When I originally received an event invite to celebrate #Hendependence, the passing of Prop 2 – which mandates that eggs sold in California must come from hens with larger cages – I must admit, I scratched my head. Not entirely sure what this “party,” of sorts, would entail, I decided to attend out of pure curiosity, if nothing else. That said, it was at Palihouse, which is not only conveniently located on my street, but it also happens to be one of my favorite places in L.A.
When I walked into the event – which was held in the hotel lounge’s cozy patio area – I was greeted with variously seasoned deviled eggs, ranging from curry to black truffle. As someone who eats omelets for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the choice of bites certainly drew me in right away. The ravioli nibbles, Creme Brulee, open bar and sexy tunes spun by DJ Lindsay Luv also didn’t hurt matters.
Hosted by The Happy Egg Co. and TV personality Ross Mathews, the event shared a brief informative session and video on the importance of the proposition’s passing – a point Mathews got across quite comically (let’s just say he managed to come up with every imaginable “egg” pun under the sun).
