Commercial hip-hop these days has become so much less about the artists, and more about the producers of the tracks. So, it’s surprising that in a world where Chris Brown is considered the modern-day “King of R&B,” the man behind some of his biggest successes in the last two years hasn’t gotten the full recognition he deserves. From 2013’s “Beat It,” to 2014’s “Loyal,” to 2015’s already chart-topping “Ayo,” Nic Nac has truly proved himself as a hit-maker.
The music master, who hails from the Bay Area, has also created hits for Ma$e, Mally Mall – and, hey! Remember Ray J‘s ridiculous Kim Kardashian ode “I Hit It First?” Well, Nic Nac gets credit for that one, too (for better or worse)!
No disrespect to DJ Mustard, arguably the biggest hip-hop producer of 2014 – but, I think this is Nic Nac’s year! In case anyone needs further proof, check out my playlist below of 10 songs that demonstrate why we need much more of this gem in 2015:
