Weeks before the start of the Haunted Hayride, Knotts Scary Farm and Halloween Horror Nights, the Queen Mary‘s 31-day Dark Harbor event kicked off the month of fright festivities. My friend Natalie and I made our way to Long Beach on Thursday for opening night, and as VIPs, we were treated to a live performance by the “haunted” crew band and quite arguably the most delicious chicken kabobs I’ve ever had. We arrived pretty early, perfectly timed to avoid waiting in line for the swing ride, which was taken from Michael Jackson‘s Neverland Ranch. Once dusk set in, goblins and ghouls were in full force, chasing people around. To sneak away (Natalie is frightened incredibly easily), we hung out in the private VIP area and in the hookah lounge in between frolicking from bar to bar (I sipped on my first alcoholic beverage in a whopping 31 days!). Overall, it was a night of doom in the most delightful way!
